How To Get A Video Production Career

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Before we begin, let us discuss what we are hoping you will benefit from this educating article about video production. Then we can begin to piece it together for the reader.

It was so long ago when I went to college for video production that I am no longer in the loop and would have no idea what I was doing. Though the basics are with me, and I use them a lot when taking photographs and taping my daughter, the new equipment that professionals use would be foreign to me now. Though my career in that area was a short one, it was a lot of fun. Today, the need for that type of professional is still there, and though not everyone can film a major motion picture, there are plenty of jobs out there for those who love filming and production.

My best friend from college still works in video production, and she has a really great job. She loves it, and says that she can not imagine doing anything else. Like most in her field, she started at the bottom. She worked for a smaller company in the tape library. That meant basically that she copied whatever it was they needed copies of, and stored all of the videos for their projects. It was a far cry from the career she wanted in video production, but she knew she needed to start at the bottom and then go from there.

Today, she works for a large video production company, and she spends most of her time producing shoots and talking with clients. She loves the fast paced nature of her job, and she enjoys seeing simple ideas that grow into something really magnificent. They do a lot of corporate stuff, but they also do many of the commercials that are local to her city, as well as working with the major sporting teams in the area. Though she could probably do bigger things in other cities, she has no desire to move away for that reason.

You don’t have to assist in commercials and other pieces if you don’t want to however, and that is what is great about video production. News casts always need people with this type of education. If you want to pursue a news career in production, start out in a small market and work your way up. You can also work for companies that film things like weddings and other events. Though not every would love that type of work, there are some who think that is the perfect video production job for them. Learning the basics can take you into any direction you want to go.

As my wise mom used to say, knowing stuff is everything, so continue gathering information about video production until you feel you are adequately educated on the subject. You can find more on this interesting topic if you Google it.

Take An Online Degree And Save Money

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

Nowadays, attending college is quite costly. For adults who want to continue their education, it is more of a challenge than it used to be. Most people can’t afford to just stop working and go back to college on a full-time basis. Going back to school on a part-time basis can be quite a strain as well. With having children and a household of responsibilities, finding the time to drive to classes isn’t always easy. There is an easier way to obtain that longed for degree, however, without ever having to find a babysitter and worry about being late for your classes.

Getting an online degree is becoming increasingly popular. There are lots of colleges, both traditional and online, that are now offering degrees to people over the internet. Don’t think that it will be a pleasant walk in the park though. Getting an online degree is just as challenging as getting your degree in the traditional sense. In fact, some people will say that it is more of a challenge. After all, you can’t exactly raise your hand in class and ask a question. Sure, you have professors and can ask questions, but it just isn’t quite the same.

An online degree, if obtained through an accredited university, can still get you the same jobs that any traditional degree can get you. You will have that slip of paper stating that you graduated with whatever degree you were seeking. Some employers frown upon the fact that you received an online degree but others only want to know that you have that certificate. Of course, if you don’t do your homework first, you may end up chasing after an online degree from a college that isn’t accredited. If that’s the case, you might as well just toss your money out the window. Do your research first and make sure that you’re making the right choice and getting as much as possible for your money.

Tuition for getting an online degree isn’t the cheapest. In fact, it probably equals out to approximately the same amount that you would spend if you were attending classes on a traditional campus. Though you may not be saving money, think about all of the conveniences that you’re gaining. You may just find that an online degree is much more suitable for your lifestyle than you think. And, you may find that your dreams are a bit more reachable than you ever imagined.
